Academy Steward 2026/27 Season
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the Academy Steward is to provide a first-class level of safety, security and customer service on training nights and matchdays, ensuring the safety of all spectators, players and staff. The successful candidates will ensure that all spectators have a correct valid ticket before entering the training ground as well as displaying a professional and friendly approach when controlling and assisting spectator movement.
They will be required to carry out ad-hoc duties requested by management and take direction from the Operations team and coaching staff to assist with upholding the training ground regulations and relevant legislation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be available to work mid-week evenings and weekend fixtures.
Be willing and able to attend on site and digital training sessions as required by legislation, guidance and policy.
Work to ensure the safety and comfort of spectators is always maintained within the designated areas.
Provide information, direction and instruction to spectators and other visitors in and around the training ground.
Monitor the spectators within the training ground and provide updates to reduce the risk of crowd related incidents.
Take responsibility for the designated area, ensure that all requirements are fulfilled including entrances, exits and circulation routes kept clear of obstructions.
Identify and investigate any incident involving spectators and update a supervisor with result.
Maintain a working knowledge of key locations within and around the training ground including the location of; changing rooms, spectator areas, first aid and emergency equipment and exits.
Be fully conversant with the training ground emergency procedures.
Comply promptly with directions given in an emergency by a supervisor or member of Emergency Services.
Remain at allocated post as instructed unless authorised or ordered to move by a supervisor.
Assist as required in the emergency response to incidents.

· Maintain up to date knowledge of Health & Safety related guidance and processes within your role and in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy.
· Consider the Health & Safety implications of all actions and inaction within your role.
· Support and uphold agreed standards for Health & Safety compliance, including assisting in accident, dangerous occurrence and near miss investigations within your role.
· Follow and adhere to; safe management systems and working practices in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy.
· Ensure you have been briefed and are confident in using any equipment prior to use and seek guidance from your line manager as required.
· Regularly review risk assessments, safe working, and management systems associated with your role.
· Liaise regularly with the Club’s appointed Health & Safety representatives to support and maintain compliance
· Maintain records of all Health & Safety issues within your role and area of responsibility.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:
Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety (or equivalent) – Preferred but not essential
Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1 or above (GCSE Grades D-G)
Specific Experience:
Experience in a similar role would be beneficial although not essential as full training will be provided.
Previous experience in a customer service or front facing role.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to work with and support a team to achieve the desired standards.
Able to work effectively in a team and also independently using own initiative.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
Committed and driven to provide a safe and friendly environment.
Attention to detail and pride the quality of work undertaken.
Focused on achieving Club, departmental and individual success.
Be an ambassador for the Club, always presenting the Club in a positive image.
Additional Information:
This a casual role
Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
Applicants must be aged 18+.
This role is subject to a completed enhanced DBS check.
Shifts for this role may occasionally clash with first team fixtures and successful applicants will be required to prioritise Academy shifts over first team fixtures.
